Facilitated by Dr. Krishnan

11:30AM-12:45 PM directly after the beginner class

Pre-registration requested and drop-ins welcome
The Bhagavad Gita, the Song of the Blessed One, is one of the most studied and widely translated texts in the history of world literature. It is considered the most important book in the evolution of Yoga. It is one of the most widely read and accessible storehouses of yogic wisdom and practice. It explores yoga along the paths of action, knowledge and devotion, taking us deeper into the experience of our own true Self.
We will start with chapter 13 and study it all Spring. Chapter 13 is one of the most important chapters. It holds building blocks that can make the greatest impact on our day to day lives. It discusses such topics as who is the "knower" within us, the "field" where our lives unfold, the gunas and the path of knowledge. It’s teachings are accessable and immediate. We will study it as a key to effective living. The last 15 minutes will be an open Q&A.
No prior experience necessary - just bring an open heart and inquisitive mind. you can come to the entire series, or take indivudal sessions. We recommend that you read chapter 13 and bring your copy, a notebook and pen. If you'd like to get a copy, we recommend the following translations:
-
Bhagavad Gita: A Walk Through Guide for Westerners by Jack Hawley (highly readable)
-
Bhagavad Gita by Winthrop Seargant (Includes the sanskrit transliteration and translation)
-
Bhagavad Gita in the Mahabharata by J.A.B. van Buitenen (an unbiased translation written in prose rather than verse by verse)
-
Poised for Grace: Annotations on the Bhagavad Gita from a Tantric View by Professor Douglas Brooks (this is not a translation but more like crib notes and available for sale at the studio to be used in conjunction with an actual translation)
Dr. Krishnan is a scientist by training and has been a student of Vedanta and the Bhagavad Gita for 20 years. Over the last ten years he has been sharing his thoughts on the Gita and how we can increase the quality of our lives both at home and at the work place. He explains through discussions the Gita's benefits both in our lives and relationships. The Gita helps us unlock the door to "Successful and Effective Living".

Sunday, March 4
2:00-5:00 pm
$45
Take your inversion practice to new levels of growth. This intermediate workshop will strengthen and align the spine to support and renew health and vitality in both the upper and lower body. Simultaneously we will explore how when we approach the advancement of poses with sensitivity, awareness and vigor, it sets free the motions of the body for a confident, graceful practice.
Through clear and simple action, we will outline preparatory poses to move deeper and learn how consistent action and Anusara Alignment techniques can bring us into poses such as pincha mayurasana or forearm stand, urdhvamukha, vrikshasana, or handstand and headstand variations.
Participants should have a basic level of comfort with inversions. Not recommended for someone at a beginner stage.

When we encounter pain in our bodies, or have a history of injury, we are met with an experience of discomfort and limitation. In turn, it may seem as though there is an impossible threshold of unwanted resistance within our body that exhausts our resources and restricts our access to our own natural ability to heal.
In these two workshops, Lower Body Therapeutics and Upper Body Therapeutics, we will explore how to meet pain and injury from a platform of compassionate healing and diligent action, thus clarifying how the Universal Principles of Alignment work therapeutically.
Lower Body 1:00-3:00 PM
We will look at general misalignments within the pelvis, legs and feet to examine the relation to pain exhibited in the lower back, hips, knees, ankles and feet. We will also address stiffness, fatigue, limited range of motion, injury and chronic pain. Through simple straightforward exercises and alignment techniques, we will learn how these configurations can help to alleviate pain, strengthen areas that feel weak or underdeveloped, support areas that have been effected by injury, overuse and strain and nurture an increasing sense of freedom from pain throughout the body.
Upper Body 3:30-5:30 PM
We will look at general misalignments within the head, neck and shoulder areas of the body and examine how these relate to pain exhibited in the elbows, wrists and hands, upper back and neck. We will cover issues such as fatigue and stiffness due to injury and chronic pain. Through simple straightforward exercises and alignment techniques, we will learn how these configurations can help to alleviate pain, strengthen areas that feel weak or underdeveloped, support areas that have been effected by injury, overuse and strain and nurture an increasing sense of freedom from pain throughout the body.
In taking the time to be attentive to our body's needs in clear, honest and caring ways, we can open the gates of hope and healing, transforming the exercise of yoga into a conscious step towards greater freedom of body, heart and mind.
All levels and those new to yoga are welcome!
